Worthy Cause Wednesday: Celebrating Piper as a “Do the Right Thing” Program Recipient

Sometimes, making a difference means recognizing when someone needs help and having the courage to step in. The “Do the Right Thing” program lets us recognize when these moments happen.

For this Worthy Cause Wednesday, we’re proud to highlight the Cape Coral Police Department’s “Do the Right Thing” program, an initiative our company is honored to support. This program recognizes local students who demonstrate kindness, courage, responsibility, and strong character throughout our community.

This week, we’re sharing the inspiring story of Piper, who, at the time, was an 11th-grade student at Oasis High School. Her quick thinking helped someone during a frightening medical emergency.

Right Place. Right Time. The Right Thing.

Piper was in a Target parking lot when she heard someone calling for help. A woman was experiencing a medical emergency, and the woman’s daughter was unsure what to do.

Instead of walking past or waiting for someone else to take action, Piper immediately stepped in.

She called 9-1-1 and remained calm as she followed the dispatcher’s instructions. Piper used her hoodie to cushion the woman’s head and carefully placed her on her side. Most importantly, she stayed with the woman until first responders arrived.

In an unexpected and stressful situation, Piper showed an incredible amount of composure, compassion, and courage.

Her actions earned her recognition from the Cape Coral Police Department with a “Do the Right Thing” Award.

Recognizing Young People Who Make A Difference

The “Do the Right Thing” program celebrates young people like Piper who make positive choices and set an example for others.

Stories like hers are an important reminder that you don’t have to be an adult or a trained first responder to make a meaningful difference. Sometimes, it starts with paying attention, staying calm, asking for help, and being willing to act when someone needs you.

That’s why our company is proud to support the Cape Coral Police Department’s “Do the Right Thing” program. Recognizing young people for their positive actions helps reinforce the values we want to see throughout our community. It also gives deserving students an opportunity to know that their kindness and character do not go unnoticed.

Piper could have assumed someone else would help. Instead, she stepped forward when it mattered most.

This Worthy Cause Wednesday, we congratulate Piper on receiving her “Do the Right Thing” Award and thank the Cape Coral Police Department for continuing to recognize the remarkable young people in our community.

Congratulations, Piper! Your courage, compassion, and willingness to help are an example of what it truly means to do the right thing.
